Type: Pfeiffera cereiformis SD

- At first erect, later hanging. Mesotonic branching, Without aerial roots. Areoles mostly with spines and often with clearly visible scales. Flowers rather large. Ovary humped and spined or ovary angled, rarely completely round.

- Bolivië: La Paz, Cochabamba, Santa Cruz, Chuquisaca, Tarija; Noord-Argentinië: Jujuy, Salta, Tucumán; South Brazil.
