- Stems stout, up to 10 cm diameter, mostly triangular. Wings mostly thin, later thicker, straight or more or less undulating, never with corky edges. Spines 2-4, short, brownish, with 2 bristly spines, soon dehiscent. Flower 30 cm long, white, strongly scented. Scales with purple edges. Outer petals narrow, reddish. Inner petals white. Stigmas yellowish, not dissected. Fruit red, oblong, 10 cm long.

- Costa Rica, Nicaragua, up to 1400 m.
